Trinetx and Fujitsu partner to advance real-world evidence in Japan

TriNetX and Fujitsu have formed TriNetX Japan K.K. to enhance real-world evidence (RWE) by integrating anonymized electronic health record (EHR) data into a global research network, supporting clinical trials and healthcare innovation.
TriNetX, a global healthcare network specializing in real-world data (RWD) and RWE solutions, has announced a partnership with Fujitsu, a leading ICT company and one of Japan’s top EHR vendors, to establish TriNetX Japan K.K. The joint venture aims to create an environment where anonymized EHR data from Japanese patients can support clinical trials, healthcare research, and drug development.
Technology integration and data accessibility
The partnership will combine the TriNetX LIVE™ Platform, which connects a global network of over 200 million patient records, with Fujitsu’s cloud-based healthcare platform in Japan. This integration will provide seamless and secure access to large-scale EHR datasets, supporting clinical trials, precision medicine, and advanced analytics.
Fujitsu views the collaboration as a step toward a more efficient and patient-centric healthcare system. “Fujitsu is proud to collaborate with TriNetX to advance healthcare and life sciences innovation in Japan,” said Tatsuki Araki, Head of Healthy Living at Fujitsu. “Together with TriNetX, we will create an environment where Japanese medical data, previously underutilized, can be efficiently leveraged for clinical research. As part of our business model ‘Fujitsu Uvance,' which is based on addressing social issues, Fujitsu aims to eliminate drug loss in Japan and achieve a society where everyone can choose the treatment that best suits them by creating an ecosystem leveraging medical data.”
Expanding clinical research opportunities in Japan
Japan, the world’s third-largest pharmaceutical market, presents significant opportunities for clinical innovation, particularly given its aging population. The increasing prevalence of age-related conditions, such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders, underscores the need for robust RWD to drive medical advancements. By integrating Japan into the global data-driven healthcare ecosystem, TriNetX Japan K.K. seeks to accelerate access to innovative therapies for patients.
Since entering the Japanese market in 2022, TriNetX has enabled pharmaceutical companies and researchers to securely access anonymized patient data while ensuring compliance with Japan’s stringent data privacy regulations.
"This joint venture with Fujitsu will open new research pathways and strengthen Japan's position in global healthcare, allowing us to connect critical therapies to patients," said Gadi Lachman, Founding CEO of TriNetX.
The venture aligns with a growing trend of Japanese medical institutions joining the TriNetX network. Researchers are already utilizing TriNetX technology to conduct novel studies, while pharmaceutical companies are expanding clinical trial opportunities in Japan. This initiative is expected to streamline trial operations, improve safety monitoring, and enhance real-world evidence generation.
TriNetX Japan K.K. will be led by Shogo Wakabayashi, Country Manager for Japan. The Board of Directors will include Steve Kundrot, Chief Operating Officer of TriNetX, and Elizabeth Schwert, Vice President of M&A and Business Development at TriNetX.
