Century Health and Dallas Renal Group launch AI initiative to advance real‑world evidence in rare kidney disorders

Century Health and Dallas Renal Group have announced a partnership to apply AI to clinical data to improve the identification and analysis of rare glomerular diseases, including IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and C3 glomerulopathy.
The collaboration will use AI to analyze clinical documentation and generate structured datasets to support research into disease progression, treatment patterns, and unmet medical need.
Glomerular diseases damage the kidney’s filtering units and can lead to chronic kidney disease, kidney failure requiring dialysis or transplantation, and an increased risk of cardiovascular complications. Conditions such as IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and C3 glomerulopathy can be difficult to track in conventional healthcare datasets because key diagnostic information is often recorded in pathology reports or physician notes rather than in structured electronic health record (EHR) fields.
To address this challenge, the partners will use Century Health’s AI platform, including its Century Health Abstraction and Retrieval Model (CHARM). The system analyses clinical documentation across patient records to extract relevant signals from unstructured data sources such as clinician notes, pathology reports, and diagnostic records. According to the companies, the process does not require additional manual data entry from clinical staff.
By structuring this information, the partners aim to create detailed real-world datasets reflecting how glomerular diseases present and progress in community nephrology settings. The work is expected to provide greater visibility into disease prevalence, progression, and treatment patterns across Dallas Renal Group’s patient population while maintaining patient privacy protections.
Dallas Renal Group plans to use the curated data to support clinical insights within its network of nephrology practices. According to the organizations, improved understanding of disease trajectories may help clinicians identify patients who could benefit from emerging therapies.
