HealthVerity and Recursion partner to advance clinical trial design with real-world data

HealthVerity and Recursion have announced a collaboration to advance clinical trial analytics using large-scale, privacy-compliant real-world data (RWD). The collaboration supports AI-driven drug development and patient-centric trial design.
HealthVerity has announced a partnership with Recursion, a clinical stage techbio company, to enhance clinical trial design and analytics through the use of RWD. Under the agreement, Recursion will integrate HealthVerity’s de-identified, privacy-compliant data, covering more than 340 million individuals in the US, into its proprietary platform, the Recursion OS.
By incorporating HealthVerity’s data, sourced from a large and compliant RWD ecosystem, Recursion aims to strengthen its AI- and machine learning-driven capabilities across clinical trial design, feasibility assessments, and operational planning. The integration supports Recursion’s broader objective to streamline clinical development, reduce costs, and improve the efficiency of therapeutic discovery.
Najat Khan, PhD, Chief R&D Officer and Chief Commercial Officer at Recursion, highlighted the potential impact of the partnership:
“With the majority of the industry's time and resources focused on clinical trials, we see a significant opportunity to transform how clinical development is designed and executed. By integrating privacy-compliant real-world data from HealthVerity into Recursion OS, we are advancing our mission to optimize trial design through in silico simulations, accelerate recruitment through a patient-centric approach that includes underserved populations, and generate stronger evidence to inform development and regulatory decisions. By doing so, we are not only streamlining clinical development but also ensuring that we bring more impactful, life-changing treatments to patients faster and more efficiently.”
The Recursion OS combines proprietary biological and chemical datasets with advanced AI/ML tools to uncover complex biological relationships and support novel molecule design. Access to HealthVerity’s RWD is expected to enhance Recursion’s ability to predict patient responses, refine study protocols, and support more targeted site selection and enrolment strategies.
“Our partnership with Recursion underscores the transformative potential of real-world data in driving smarter clinical trials,” said Andrew Kress, CEO of HealthVerity. “By providing seamless access to the industry's most comprehensive and interoperable real-world data, we empower innovators like Recursion to make data-driven decisions that streamline clinical development.”
