Preview of DIA’s 2025 Real-World Evidence Conference

Continuing our focus on upcoming events, we preview DIA’s 2025 Real-World Evidence Conference, which will explore the latest regulatory, methodological, and technological developments shaping how real-world data (RWD) are generated and applied across the healthcare ecosystem.
As interest in real-world evidence (RWE) grows, its central role in healthcare is becoming increasingly clear – shaping drug development, regulatory submissions, reimbursement decisions, and patient care. DIA’s 2025 Real-World Evidence Conference (October 16–17, San Diego, CA, USA) offers a timely opportunity for stakeholders to review progress, share best practices, and address emerging challenges in the field.
This year’s conference will take place under the theme “Translating Insights into Real-World Value”, emphasizing how scientific and methodological advances can be translated into practical improvements in patient outcomes, healthcare system performance, and policy decision-making. With registration open until September 18th, the event provides a platform to stay informed on the evolving RWE landscape and its growing impact on healthcare.
Advancing RWE in practice
The two-day program is designed for a broad audience spanning academia, biopharma, medical devices, clinical research, data science, epidemiology, health economics, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, payers, and policymakers. Sessions will address new regulatory guidances, evolving data standards, and innovative approaches to noninterventional studies. A strong emphasis will be placed on ensuring RWD quality and fitness for purpose, as well as the operational and methodological frameworks needed to establish reliable evidence.
Program highlights include:
- A Year in Review of Advancing RWE Globally – reflecting on progress and challenges worldwide.
- Ensuring Quality and Integrity of Real-World Data – regulatory insights into reliability and use.
- RWD and RWE in Support of Clinical Development – designs, gaps, and practical strategies.
- Leveraging RWD and Synthetic Data for Special Populations – addressing unmet needs in underrepresented groups.
- ICH Roundtable on Convergence and Harmonization – advancing global alignment.
- Accelerating Global RWE with OMOP – enabling scalable, standardized collaboration across regions.
- AI and Machine Learning Innovations – from patient insights to regulatory-ready evidence.
- Shaping the Future of RWE Through Policy and Collaboration – bridging science and decision-making.
As Program Committee member Rachele Hendricks-Sturrup (Research Director, Real-World Evidence, Duke-Margolis Institute for Health Policy, USA) explained to The Evidence Base:
“This year, we are looking forward to our scientific community taking a deeper dive into what it takes to move the needle on real-world generation and implementation in settings that matter most to patients. That means exploring real-world data in innovative ways that allow us to both understand and treat underlying causes of disease, as well as discussing and sharing new knowledge around what it takes to build operational efficiencies toward establishing fit-for-use real-world data in meaningful ways.”
Meet The Evidence Base team in San Diego
We're continuing our media partnering with DIA’s RWE conference series and will be on site in San Diego in October. Our Editor’s Laura Dormer and Jo Walker will provide daily updates from the meeting and coverage of selected sessions. If you are attending and would like to connect with Laura or Jo to discuss The Evidence Base or contributing to the Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research, please get in touch.
Sponsorship opportunities
For organizations looking to expand their visibility, sponsorship options around the DIA RWE Conference are available through The Evidence Base. These include opportunities such as Conference Sneak Peeks, Deep Dives, Expert Insights, and Guest Columns, each designed to highlight expertise, extend reach, and provide lasting content beyond the event itself.
