Tempus and Korean-based JW Pharmaceutical team up to foster RWD-driven drug development

Tempus will collaborate with JW Pharmaceutical to enhance oncology research using real-world data (RWD) and biological modeling, advancing data-driven drug development in Korea.
Tempus, a leader in AI and precision medicine, has announced a collaboration with JW Pharmaceutical, one of Korea's most established pharmaceutical companies. This partnership aims to leverage RWD and biological modeling to enhance early therapeutic research and development in oncology.
The collaboration enables JW Pharmaceutical to access Tempus' extensive multimodal dataset and repository of organoid models, supporting their efforts across multiple indications. By utilizing Tempus' biological modeling platform, JW Pharmaceutical researchers can screen early pipeline assets, identify biomarkers of response, and make informed decisions regarding asset prioritization.
Tempus advances precision medicine through the application of AI in healthcare. With one of the world's largest libraries of multimodal data, the company provides AI-enabled precision medicine solutions that support personalized patient care. Tempus facilitates the discovery, development, and delivery of optimal therapeutics, aiming to ensure that each patient benefits from treatments developed for previous patients.
Ryan Fukushima, Chief Operating Officer of Tempus, stated,
“We are excited to work with a forward-looking collaborator like JW Pharmaceutical, a pioneer in Korea that is embracing the power of RWD and AI to advance the next generation of cancer therapeutics. We are taking it one step further by curating a panel of organoids across specific cancer indications that closely reflect real-world patients to evaluate select preclinical candidates, and we are excited to understand the full potential of this innovative approach to early research.”
Each organoid model used in this collaboration reflects the biology of distinct patient tumors and is connected to Tempus' expansive multimodal dataset through its next-generation sequencing assay, xT. This integration allows for the projection of organoid screening findings onto real-world patient populations, potentially providing valuable insights to guide therapeutic development.
JW Pharmaceutical has been an early adopter of integrating RWD into its drug research and development programs. This collaboration marks a significant step in data-driven drug development using RWD in Korea, aligning with global trends and potentially impacting the domestic drug development landscape.
JW Pharmaceutical's Chief Technology Officer, Chan-Hee Park, highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating:
"We are excited to collaborate with Tempus, a leader in AI and precision medicine, capable of conducting end-to-end translational research from preclinical to clinical stages. As the first in Korea to initiate this partnership, JW anticipates promising outcomes. This collaboration marks a turning point in data-driven drug development using RWD in Korea, aligning with global trends and expected to positively impact the domestic drug development landscape."
