Scipher Medicine and Kythera Labs to enhance precision medicine in autoimmune disease treatment

Scipher Medicine and Kythera Labs have formed a data-driven partnership to integrate real-world clinical, genomic, and claims data, aiming to improve therapeutic decision-making and accelerate the development of precision medicine in autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
Scipher Medicine and Kythera Labs have announced a new partnership focused on advancing precision medicine in autoimmune diseases through the integration of high-quality data sources. The collaboration integrates Scipher’s real-world clinical and genomic data with Kythera’s high-fidelity, multi-source real-world data (RWD), aiming to improve therapeutic targeting, particularly in rheumatology.
Scipher’s clinicogenomic data assets are built around PrismRA®, a molecular blood test that helps identify patients with RA who are unlikely to respond to tumor necrosis factor inhibitor (TNFi) therapies. TNFi drugs are widely used in RA, but a substantial proportion of patients do not experience sufficient therapeutic benefit. PrismRA® provides gene expression insights that may enable more effective, individualized treatment decisions and avoid unnecessary exposure to ineffective therapies.
Kythera Labs contributes enhanced RWD through a proprietary platform that integrates claims and electronic health record (EHR) data, enhanced through proprietary patient matching algorithms. These algorithms allow for privacy-protected data integration at scale and have achieved a 98% match rate with Scipher’s data. This capability enables more targeted and reliable analysis within disease-specific therapeutic areas.
Reg Seeto, CEO of Scipher Medicine, stated:
“This strategic partnership unites the strength of precision medicine with real-world data to accelerate the development and delivery of transformative therapies. By combining Scipher’s unique and industry-leading clinico-transcriptomic rheumatology data assets with Kythera’s data transforming technology, we can take fuller advantage of novel data and advance personalized medicine to improve patient lives.”
Jeff McDonald, CEO and Co-Founder of Kythera Labs, added:
“Our ability to integrate real-world data with high accuracy and fidelity ensures maximum data value and broad extensibility across diverse RWD use cases,” said Jeff McDonald, CEO and Co-Founder of Kythera Labs. “By connecting the depth of Scipher’s molecular biobank data with our RWD, we can build a bench-to-bedside bridge that will assist Scipher to uncover deeper insights and advance the development of new therapies for patients.”
Scipher’s broader data infrastructure includes the industry’s largest RA genomic dataset and access to EHRs for over 3 million rheumatology patients. Through its SPECTRA Dx and Rx platforms, Scipher applies AI and network biology to guide drug development across discovery, diagnostics, and commercialization.
The partnership is positioned to generate new insights into autoimmune disease management by leveraging complementary data assets to support precision diagnostics and more tailored therapeutic strategies.
