OM1 has announced the expansion to its Neurology Specialty Network, adding around 500,000 patients and bringing the total to more than 3 million. The network contains electronic health records (EHRs) and clinician notes from relevant specialists, making it one of the largest neurology-focused real-world data (RWD) resources currently available.

Neurological disorders are the leading cause of disability and the second leading cause of death globally, according to the World Health Organization. Their prevalence and complexity underscore the need for large-scale, high-quality RWD to inform treatment development, guide clinical decision-making, and support healthcare system planning.

The latest expansion strengthens OM1’s existing neurology datasets by incorporating additional EHRs and specialist notes, creating a broader and more detailed foundation for research. OM1’s PremiOM™ datasets in Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease have been enhanced, with expanded coverage for conditions such as migraine headaches and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). These datasets integrate structured and unstructured clinical information, medical and pharmacy claims, and curated outcomes. The inclusion of AI models supports analysis of disease progression, treatment effectiveness, and personalized care approaches.

Expanding our neurology network to more than 3 million patients represents a pivotal milestone in enabling better outcomes for neurology patients,” said Dr Carl Marci, Chief Clinical Officer and Managing Director of Mental Health and Neuroscience at OM1. “By integrating deep clinical data and advanced AI, we’re equipping researchers and healthcare providers with powerful tools to uncover new insights into disease progression, treatment response, and more personalized care in complex neurological conditions.”

To provide a broader view of patient experiences, the neurology network can be linked with OM1’s other specialty datasets, including Primary Care, with over 22 million patients, and Mental Health, with more than 6 million patients. This integration allows researchers to follow individuals from early symptom presentation through diagnosis and ongoing treatment, offering a comprehensive perspective across multiple care settings.

The expanded network includes multisource data and AI-driven analytics, which can be used for research initiatives such as epidemiological studies and comparative effectiveness analyses, and for generating evidence applicable in both research and clinical contexts.
