Becaris Publishing is pleased to announce that the Medline-indexed Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research (impact factor: 2.040) will be converting to a fully open access publishing model from the first issue of 2023.

Launched in 2012, the Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research (JCER) covers all areas of medicine, publishing the latest peer-reviewed, evidence-based information about which healthcare interventions and strategies are most effective and for whom. As well as comparative effectiveness and direct head-to-head studies (including methodology and protocol papers), the journal also features patient-centered HEOR and real-world evidence in all areas of clinical interest.

From 2023 (Volume 12), JCER is moving to a fully open access (OA) publishing model, where all articles will be published under a CC BY-NC-ND license as standard, supported by an OA article processing charge (APC).

CEO of Becaris Publishing, Phil Garner commented: “I am excited for JCER to be moving to fully OA publishing from January 2023. Since the journal launched 10 years ago, we have seen demand for OA grow, and while JCER has been supportive of this via its hybrid model, the move to become a fully OA publication will help ensure the journal’s valuable content reaches as wide an audience as possible.”

He added “We are also keen to ensure that this new model does not present a barrier to our continuing to publish work from a diverse range of authors; and discounts on the APC will be available to authors from lower-income countries.”

JCER welcomes presubmission enquiries for a wide range of article types, from original research to review articles. The journal is also keen to make all research accessible and encourages authors to include a plain language summary within their article as well as through publishing standalone plain language summary of publication articles. Please contact the Editor, Laura Dormer in the first instance with a brief summary of your work if you are interested in submitting to JCER or alternatively, click here to proceed to article submission.

Via the journal’s unique partnership with The Evidence Base®, articles published in JCER may be showcased on the site. This increases the discoverability of JCER content within a relevant audience and boosts the resulting impact of research.
