Century Health and Nira Medical team up to advance multiple sclerosis care with AI curated EHR data

The partnership between Century Health and Nira Medical uses AI to transform electronic health record (EHR) data into actionable insights, advancing multiple sclerosis (MS) research and care.
Century Health and Nira Medical have announced a collaboration to enhance the use of EHR data in advancing MS research and care. This collaboration applies AI to organize and curate clinical data, providing real-world insights into MS treatments and outcomes.
Century Health’s AI platform will process data from over 3000 MS patients in Nira Medical’s network, transforming unstructured EHR data into structured datasets. These datasets aim to support research and development efforts by life sciences companies, accelerating drug discovery and informing treatment strategies.
EHRs often contain valuable clinical data, but much of it is unstructured and difficult to analyze. Century Health estimates that approximately 80% of EHR data is stored in formats that are challenging to access. AI and machine learning (ML) platforms offer a scalable solution to address this issue by organizing complex data.
"Using AI to unlock previously inaccessible patient data is not only accelerating the development of new treatments, it's helping us generate insights for patients that have been historically underrepresented in clinical research," said Vish Srivastava, Co-Founder & CEO at Century Health.
The collaboration will focus on creating a comprehensive view of MS patient care, encompassing treatment history, disease progression, and relapse rates. The enriched datasets will allow Nira Medical to refine its care approaches while collaborating with life sciences companies to advance drug discovery and treatment strategies.
"This partnership with Century Health enables us to efficiently transform raw, unstructured data into actionable insights, at a time when real-world evidence is increasingly important for driving innovation and improving patient outcomes," said Rebekah Foster, Head of Data at Nira Medical.
MS has been identified as the initial focus due to the significant patient population within Nira Medical’s network and the variety of therapies available for analysis. By defining patient cohorts and examining factors such as disease subtype, treatment history, disease progression, and relapse rates, the collaboration aims to address critical gaps in MS research and care.
Century Health’s AI platform, which is both HIPAA-compliant and SOC 2-certified, automates the cleaning, structuring, and analysis of both retrospective and prospective EHR data. This automation reduces the burden of manual data entry for clinical teams and allows them to focus on patient care while ensuring data privacy through strict de-identification protocols.
